The man identified as Sammie Wallace, 37, was not cooperative with police and the hostage situation. Despite efforts made by a team of trained professionals, Wallace threatened to kill the child. He was making very odd demands and police began to fear the worst. The Walmart hostage situation deteriorated rather quickly. Once police evacuated the store and began negotiations with Wallace, it became clear that he had no intention of releasing the child.
